Reading Badges

Each year, children are challenged to earn their Reading Badge by reading 20 books over the course of the year. Each book needs to be filled in on the relevant page in children's Home School Diaries, and signed off by a parent/carer at home or teacher at school.

Challenge

In an attempt to broaden children's reading experiences, as of this year the challenge involves reading 10 books of children's own choice and 10 from a recommended reading list. Lists can be found below and will open up in a new window; they are sourced from the website School Reading List, which also gives you a summary of each book, along with full reviews for some, if you need help making a selection. The website also contains a host of other information and recommendations for parents, including poetry, graphic novels, picture books, bedtime reading for adults to read to their children, and more.
